1. Albanie

  • Types of wwoofing: agrotourism, Aquacultures, animal care (dogs, cats, goats, donkeys, etc.)

  • Animals (dogs, cats, goats, donkeys ...)

  • Activities: Manufacture of artisanal products, Gardens, vegetable gardens, orchards

Some general information:

  • Capital: Tirana

  • Population: 2.83 million inhabitants 

  • Climate: Mediterranean on the coast, cooler inland. Cold only in the mountains. 

  • Currency and official language: Albanian is spoken there, the Lek is the currency used

  • What to do? : Osum Canyon, Llogara National Park, Lakes (Ohrid), Butrint (very touristy, be careful when you go there), Albanian Riviera (small cove of Gjiri i Akuariumit) valley and Valbonë National Park.

  • Cities: Tirana (with the cable car), Berat, Gjirokastër, Shkodër, Saranda.

2. Espagne

WWOOFING in Spain:

  • Organization: WWOOF Espana, founded in 2007

  • Types of farms: 295 organic farmers and producers active in Spain, Organic farms, Community farms, Mixed farms, Family houses and gardens

  • Activities: Biological methods in search of sustainability  

Some general information:

  • Capital: Madrid

  • Population: 47.35 million inhabitants 

  • Climate: Spain has five types of climates, but the summer is generally hot and dry and sunny. On the North Atlantic coasts, the weather is cooler, humid and rainy. 

  • Motto and official language: We speak Spanish, we use  the euro.

  • What to do? : Asturias, Cies Islands, Ordesa and Mont-Perdu national parks, Serra Nevada mountain range, the canaries, Cities: Granada (strong Arab-Catholic mixture), Santiago de Compostela, medieval city of Zaragoza, Toledo (Unesco heritage),

  • Cities: Seville, Barcelona, Madrid, Cordoba.

3. Grèce

  • Types of farms: 141 organic reception farms, No use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, Family farms, Presence of animals

Some general information:

  • Capital: Athens

  • Population: 10.72 million inhabitants 

  • Mediterranean climate. Colder climate in winter in the northern regions and in the mountains, where the summers are also sometimes stormy. 

  • Currency and official language: Greek is the official language, the euro is used.

  • What to do? : The Peloponnese, with its ancient sites (such as Olympia), the island of Rhodes, the ruins of Delphi, Kefalonia, Mistra (medieval town), the Cyclades archipelago, site of Mycenae, Meteora, the gorges of Vikos.

  • Cities: Athens, Mykonos, Corfu.

  • Organization: WWOOF Italy

  • Types of farms: 710 hosts practicing sustainable development,  Family, mixed, community farms, Animal husbandry

Some general information:

  • Capital: Rome

  • Population: 59.55 million inhabitants

  • Climates: cold in the Alps (mountain climate), semi-continental in the Po Valley (cold winters and sweltering summers, hot and humid) mild (but rainy in autumn and winter) on the Tyrrhenian and Ligurian coasts, on the coast of the Ionian Sea and  the southern Adriatic coast, windy in the Apennines.

  • Currency and official language: Italian is the official language, and the currency used is the euro.

  • What to do? : The Dolomites, the five villages that make up the five lands, Sicily, with the volcano on the island of Stromboli, Tuscany, Puglia, Lake Resia, ruins of the medieval village of Ninfa, Lombardy (Lake of Como), Herculaneum and Pompeii, Lake Garda with its villages.

  • Cities: Rome, Milan, Amalfi, Venice, Florence.

  • Capital: Lisbon

  • Population: 10.31 million inhabitants 

  • Climate: mild and cool, take advantage of the freshness brought by the Atlantic. Very dry microclimate in the Algarve. 

  • Official language and currency: Portuguese is spoken there, the euro is used.

  • What to do? : Belem Tower of Lisbon, Cape Saint Vincent, Regaleira Palace, Benagil cave, Lello bookstore (would have inspired HP and Beauty and the Beast), Diana temple, Azores archipelago (hiking), Mira de Aire caves, park Natural Park of Serra da Estrela, University of Coimbra, Basilica of Santa Luzia, Sanctuary of Bom Jesus Do, Douro Valley, Piodao village.
